1- Introduce yourself in a few words?
I’m 32 years old, I’m married and soon to become a father in a few months. I am a doctor specialising in internal medicine and I would like to specialise in vascular medicine in the coming years; I have been working at the HUG since 2016.
2- Have you already invested in real estate?
I have invested small amounts in real estate ETFs before, just to try. I like to try out different types of investments and understand how they work.
3- Were you familiar with real estate crowdfunding before Foxstone?
Yes I had heard about it because I am very interested in investment in general and real estate crowdfunding has been in fashion for several years, especially in France and also in Eastern Europe.
4- How did you hear about Foxstone?
I don’t know if I found Foxstone by doing my own research on crowdfunding investment or if I stumbled upon one of your online advertisements.
5- What were the determining criteria in your investment?
The determining criteria for me are the return (> 5% per annum), the low risk of the Swiss real estate market for a long-term investment and also the short time required. After trying other assets, I have found that I prefer passive investments that allow me to generate income, especially in the current economic context where a new stock market crisis could occur at any time. My goal is to increase my passive income over the years.
It was after meeting Mr. David El-Eini, who explained to me how Foxstone works, that I decided to put my trust in the company. I also studied the possibility of investing in crowdfunding in other countries with higher returns but in the end I prefer to stay in the Swiss real estate market and invest with a company I trust and which has its offices in the city where I live.
6- What did you learn from your experience with Foxstone?
So far Foxstone has delivered on its promises. The investment process is fast and transparent and all documentation regarding the property is available on the web platform. The return is as advertised and there have been no surprises despite the coronavirus crisis when the real estate ETFs I bought lost value. It is important for any investment to understand the risks and over what period of time you want to invest. In my case, I feel at ease because I plan to keep my shares for a long period of time and I have a good understanding of the risks.
You are registered in the land register by a notary in the same way as a traditional property purchase and crowdfunding allows the risks to be pooled in the event of a tenant’s departure or unpaid rent. In the event of necessary works, there is also a fund set up for this purpose and fed by the rents. Foxstone’s business model appears to work well as new investments are regularly proposed but even in the event of bankruptcy the investors remain owners and continue to be paid.
